IFISA Participates in the 65th ATCEUC Committee Meeting in Utrecht


IFISA proudly participated in the 65th Committee Meeting of the Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination (ATCEUC), held from 7–10 October 2025 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Representing IFISA, Vice President Mr. Oliver Wessollek attended the event, which brought together European air traffic management and labour representatives to discuss key issues shaping the future of the profession and aviation safety in Europe.

The meeting focused on several major topics, including:

  • Fatigue Risk Management – addressing controller fatigue as a critical safety and well-being issue, with insights from EASA’s Fatigue Task Force and ongoing research on operational fatigue management.

  • Single European Sky (SES 2+) Reform – updates from the European Commission on performance, efficiency, and environmental objectives, and discussion on how reforms impact operational realities.

  • Network Readiness for Summer 2026 – examining traffic growth forecasts and the importance of sustainable staffing and operational resilience.

  • Performance Reference Periods (RP4/RP5) – highlighting the need for realistic performance targets that protect safety and service quality.

  • Artificial Intelligence in ATM – exploring the legal, operational, and safety implications of AI integration in air traffic management.

  • Revision of EU Regulation 1008/2008 – reaffirming ATCEUC’s stance on protecting workers’ rights, fair employment conditions, and the right to strike.

Throughout the discussions, ATCEUC reaffirmed its commitment to safety, professionalism, and collaboration, emphasizing that the human element remains at the core of European air traffic management.
